BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. -- The University of North Alabama men's golf team took team and individual honors at its first spring event as the Lions bested Jacksonville State by eight strokes as a team, while UNA's Francois Jacobs claimed medalist honors at the Gulf Coast Collegiate at Diamondhead Country Club.

Jacobs, a senior from League City, Texas, had rounds of 70, 69 and 70 for a 209 total, which set a tournament record. He claimed a two-stroke victory over Ryan Fulton of New Orleans.

As a team, UNA held a one stroke lead over Jacksonville State entering the final round and built its lead throughout the day to finish with an eight stroke margin in the 13-team field.

It was UNA's third team win of the 2022-23 season, after winning two tournaments in the fall.

UNA's Carter Goodwin and Henry Frizzell tied for ninth at 222. Frizzell jumped up the leaderboard Tuesday with a final round of 68. Andre Jacobs tied for 16th (226) and Niko Nebout tied 32nd (232).
