KENNESAW, Ga. (March 21, 2024) – The University of North Alabama men's tennis team travels for weekend Atlantic Sun Conference action on Friday, March 22 at Kennesaw State and Sunday, March 24 at North Florida.
UNA prepares for a full weekend of conference play after its three-dual week last time out. The Lions opened with a 5-2 non-conference win at Alabama A&M before opening ASUN play with a defeat to Stetson. North Alabama faced FGCU in the final outing and earned its first conference win with a thrilling 4-3 victory. Sophomore Lachlan Brain fought back from a set down, breaking the 3-3 deadlock with his 6-7, 6-2, 6-4 win against Hugo Magnusson.
The Lions earned their first program win against FGCU and look to replicate the results with first-time wins against Kennesaw State and North Florida. UNA is 10-5 on the season, needing one more win to set the new Division I program record for most wins in a season.

SCOUTING THE LIONS: North Alabama has a 44-39 singles record and has been strong in doubles with a 23-11 record for a 67.6 percent win rate. Junior Nazar Fedoryshyn and sophomore Federico Scotuzzi lead the team with seven wins as a pair, with Fedoryshyn also leading UNA with 10 doubles wins. Each Lion has at least two wins in singles with freshman Birtan Duran the clubhouse leader with 11 wins. Duran has not lost from the fifth flight with a 5-0 record, and he has at least one win from the No. 2-6 flights.
SCOUTING THE OWLS: Kennesaw State looks to get back into the win column in the start of their two-dual weekend. The Owls dropped their ASUN opener last time out, falling to North Florida in a 6-1 defeat. Kennesaw State was previously ranked No. 73 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings prior to the defeat at North Florida. KSU's top-flight pair of Harvey Conway and Raul Garcia lead with five doubles wins while Garcia also leads with six singles wins. The head coach for the Owls is Matt Emery.
SERIES HISTORY: North Alabama and Kennesaw State meet for the fourth time as UNA looks to avenge previous meetings in 2019, 2022 and 2023.
SCOUTING THE OSPREYS: North Florida enters the dual winners of three straight, beating Jacksonville State 4-3 in their last outing. The Ospreys are 5-8 overall and 1-0 in ASUN play, picking up their conference win against Kennesaw State. North Florida is 31-44 with a 41.3 win percentage in singles, but the Ospreys win doubles at a 72.7 percent rate with a 24-9 record. Andreas Scott leads the team with 11 doubles wins, but North Florida has three players with 10 wins in Jonas Hartenstein, Breno Marques and Rodrigo Crespo. PJ Kotan's seven wins leads the Ospreys in singles. The head coach for North Florida is Matt Lucas.
SERIES HISTORY: The Lions will look for the first win against the Ospreys, going 0-4 in meetings in 2019, 2022 and 2023. The most recent meeting came in last year's ASUN Tournament.
