ASUN tags Ferworn as ASUN Golfer of the Week

This is Ferworn’s second award this season and fourth of his career

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (October 30, 2025) – Following his first individual win of the fall season Tuesday, University of North Alabama junior Andrew Ferworn has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference Men's Golfer of the Week, the league announced Thursday.

The honor came after the shortened Florida Atlantic Invitational, which concluded at 36 holes Tuesday morning. The Houston native carded rounds of 69 and 67 for a two-round total of 136 (-8) — the best Division I two-round individual score of the event.

The finish marked Ferworn's fourth straight top-three performance. He placed second at both the GMAC Invitational and the Cullan Brown Collegiate before finishing third at the Turtle Point Invite.

This is Ferworn's third individual title, following wins at the 2024 Cullan Brown Collegiate and Turtle Point Invite.

Ferworn has now earned his fourth career ASUN Golfer of the Week honor. He won two during the 2024 fall season — back-to-back awards after his victories at the Cullan Brown Collegiate and Turtle Point Invite.

His first award this season came after another shortened tournament, the Cullan Brown Collegiate.

The junior led the Lions to a third-place team finish and one of just three teams to finish under par in the 16-team field.

He outplayed golfers from four top-100 programs, including No. 10 Florida, No. 74 South Florida, No. 76 Florida Atlantic and No. 100 Stetson.

Ferworn's two-round performance also topped Biagio Gagliardi and Wilhelm Ryding — ranked No. 86 and No. 96 nationally in NCAA men's golf, respectively.

He led the field in par-4 scoring with an average of 3.70 (-6) and recorded a tournament-best 12 birdies.

Ferworn shot under par on both the front and back nines during each round, recording just one bogey in the final round.

"It's been a great semester where he has chances every week," said The Schmitz Family head men's golf coach Austin Phillips. "To finally get that win is huge; this is going to be a big season for him. He beat some really good players this week, and his ranking reflects that as he is now in the top-150 in the country. (I am) happy for him, and this is well deserved."

Ferworn is one of nine Lions to earn ASUN Golfer of the Week honors in the Division I era, marking the 17th award in program history.

He now ranks as the No. 122 player in the country — the highest of any Lion this season — after jumping 67 spots following his finish in Palm Beach Gardens.
