Volleyball preps for weekend bouts at Lipscomb and Austin Peay

Lions begin four-game road swing to end regular season

NASHVILLE (November 6, 2025) – The University of North Alabama volleyball team hits the road to Tennessee to take on the Lipscomb Bisons and Austin Peay Governors in a pair of pivotal Atlantic Sun Conference matchups on Nov. 7 and 8.

North Alabama faces the Bisons first on Friday, Nov. 7 at 6 p.m. The Lions cap the weekend vs. the Governors on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m.

UNA takes on Lipscomb in Allen Arena and Austin Peay in the Winfield Dunn Center. Tickets are available for the Lipscomb through the Bisons' ticket office. The match against Austin Peay will be free of charge to all spectators.

Both matches will be available for streaming on ESPN+, and live stats will be provided through StatBroadcast for Lipscomb and SIDEARM for Austin Peay. NOTES


SCOUTING THE LIONS: North Alabama begins a four-match road trip to end the regular season. UNA last time out dropped home bouts to Central Arkansas and North Florida on Oct. 29 and Nov. 2, respectively. Despite the defeats, the Lions sit firmly in the seventh spot in conference standings. The Lions look to build momentum with the road trip in anticipation of the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament in two weeks' time. Currently, UNA ranks in the top three of four different statistics: opponent blocks (second/1.65 per set), opponent assists (second/11.21), opponent service aces (third/1.71) and opponent kills (third/12.17).

"SETTING" THE TONE
: Sophomore Kinslee McGowan is second in the ASUN in assists per set (10.07) and leads with 967 assists. The sophomore is also second on the team in digs (214) and service aces (26).

KENDALL ON THE ATTACK:
Junior Kendall Barnes leads the team with 338 kills. She ranks first in the ASUN in total kills and second in kills per set (3.56). Her 372.5 total points ranks first in the conference while ranking fourth in points per set (3.92). Barnes set a new career high with 31 kills against FGCU on Oct. 12.

ACING THE COMPETITION
: Junior Olivia Fenoff has 33 service aces on the season, ranking her tied for fourth in the ASUN. Her 0.38 ace per set average is tied for fifth in the conference.

RELIABLE RICKETTS
: Sophomore Reese Ricketts is second on the team and ASUN with 309 kills and ranks fifth with 3.29 kills per set in the conference. Ricketts additionally ranks sixth in the ASUN with 3.71 points per set.

SURGING SARGENT: Junior Nicole Sargent has the team-leading .322 hitting percentage. Her percentages rank her eighth in the conference, totaling 146 kills on the season. She additionally leads the team with 60 blocks.

GARNER'S GAINS
: Sophomore Dylann Garner has shined in year two, ranking third on the team with 195 kills and 37 blocks. Garner exploded in the season's second match with 21 kills against SEMO on August 30.

CALLING ON KOLOSTA
: Freshman Jenna Kolosta has had a solid first year with a stat line of 81 kills, 42 blocks and 19 digs. Kolosta earned her first career award on Sept. 8 with the ASUN Freshman of the Week honor.

DIGGIN' DEEP
: Junior Ava Martindale leads the team with 332 total digs and a 3.46 digs per set average. She's ninth in total digs and 10th in digs per set in the ASUN.

AMONG THE RANKS
: UNA is ranked in the top 100 nationally in four individual statistics as of Nov. 5. McGowan is sixth in the NCAA in total assists while 32nd in assists per set. Barnes is 57th in total kills while 79th in points.

MILESTONE LIONS:
North Alabama has seen several milestones achieved the season. Fenoff tallied her 50th career service ace against Grambling State on Aug. 30. McGowan registered her 500th career assist against Alabama A&M on Sept. 2. Head Coach Tristan Johnson won his 50th career match on Sept. 12 in a three-set home sweep over Western Carolina. Ricketts surpassed 500 career kills against McNeese on Sept. 19. Sophomore Lankford Gurner set a Division I program record with six aces against Lipscomb on Sept. 28. McGowan also set a Division I program record with 60 assists against FGCU on Oct. 12.

SCOUTING LIPSCOMB:
 The Bisons enters the matchup at 11-11 on the year while 7-5 in the ASUN. Lipscomb have won four of their last five matches, last time out taking a four-set road victory against Bellarmine on Nov. 1. The Bisons leads the conference in points (17.16 per set), kills (13.68), opponent assists (10.35), opponent kills (11.05) and opponent digs (12.34). A player to watch is setter Sophia Hudepohl who leads the ASUN with 10.58 assists per set.

SERIES HISTORY VS. THE BISONS:
North Alabama looks to secure its third all-time win over Lipscomb and second consecutive in the 19th all-time meeting. The Lions swept the Bisons in the season's first meeting on Sept. 28 in CB&S Bank Arena.


SCOUTING AUSTIN PEAY:
 The Governors are 4-20 on the season with a 2-10 conference record. Austin Peay will look to get back to its winning after dropping bouts on the road last time out against Bellarmine and EKU. Despite the recent defeats, the Governors have two big wins in conference play with victories over Stetson and FGCU on Oct. 17 and 19, respectively. Austin Peay's Reagan Anderson and Addi Hultquist are ranked in the conference top 10 in respective categories. Anderson is tied for fifth in digs per set (3.95) and Hultquist ranks eighth is service aces per set.

SERIES HISTORY VS. THE GOVERNORS:
The Lions and Governors prep for the second season meeting and 13th all-time in the series history. North Alabama leads, 9-3, with UNA taking the first match this season in three sets on Sept. 26. The Lions have won five of the last six meetings.
