FLORENCE, Ala. (March 11, 2025) – The University of North Alabama men's tennis team returns to the UNA Tennis Courts on Wednesday, set to face the Alabama A&M Bulldogs in Florence.
The Lions conclude their nonconference schedule against the Bulldogs, looking to extend their winning ways in home action. Currently holding a 4-0 record at the UNA Tennis Courts, North Alabama goes for its third-straight win while picking up their fourth victory over instate competition this season.
First serve against Alabama A&M is set for 2 p.m. The dual serves as a doubleheader with Women's Tennis, who open against the Bulldogs at 11 a.m. Live stats will be available for both duals with links becoming available closer to match time.

LAST TIME OUT: The Lions defeated the Jacksonville State Gamecocks, 4-2, in the last outing on March 10. UNA fended off the rival Gamecocks at the UNA Tennis Courts while earning the eighth win of the season. North Alabama's victory also marked the 31st win in the series history, moving ahead in the all-time series against Jacksonville State.
ALBERTO THE AMAZING: Sophomore Alberto Altur is the current Atlantic Sun Conference's Men's Tennis Player of the Week, announced by the league office on March 5. Altur earned the honor in action versus Southern Miss, New Orleans and No. 64 Ole Miss, going unbeaten in six matches while taking home five wins across singles and doubles play. He secured his first career weekly conference honor, also marking the first for Men's Tennis this season.
SCOUTING THE LIONS: North Alabama heads into the matchup at 8-3 on the season, winning its last two contests while taking six of its past seven duals. Two of the losses have come against competition from the Southeastern Conference, with the Lions facing ranked opponents in No. 39 Auburn and No. 41 Ole Miss earlier this season. In the nonconference finale against Alabama A&M, UNA heads into the dual winning 55.6 percent of doubles matches and 64.7 percent of singles matches. Alberto Altur and sophomore Izan Orgiles lead the Lions with a 6-1 doubles record, with senior Nazar Fedoryshyn and sophomore Birtan Duran following with a 5-2 record. In singles, two Lions have seven wins on the season in Altur (7-0 record) and freshman Satoru Nakajima (7-1).
SCOUTING ALABAMA A&M: The Bulldogs have a 2-7 record on the season, coming off a 4-0 sweep of Southern University last time out. Alabama A&M looks to extend its win streak to a third-straight dual, also taking a 4-0 sweep against Mississippi Valley State prior to facing Southern. The Bulldogs are led by Willis Mbandi in his 11th season.
SERIES HISTORY: The matchup marks the 33rd in the all-time series. North Alabama leads the all-time series, 31-1, winning the last three straight. Alabama A&M's first and only win came on March 19, 2019.
