Alex Wade secures his first collegiate home run

Box Score

BATON ROUGE, La. (March 7, 2025) – The University of North Alabama baseball team fell to the No.1 ranked LSU Tigers on Friday by a 13-2 final inside of Alex Box Stadium in Baton Rouge, La. North Alabama drops to 3-9 overall, while LSU improves to 14-1.

It was a quiet first few innings from both teams. The Lions opened with a three up and three down sequence on offense. Starting graduate pitcher Brycen Parrish had to settle in as he walked the first batter. A fly out on the next secured the first out. A single from the third Tiger in the pecking order led to two on the base path. Parrish secured a strikeout and then a ground out to complete a scoreless Tiger inning.

RJ Sherwood secured a hit for the Lions in the top of the second, but no other Lions could move him around, keeping the score at 0-0.

Parrish struck first in the bottom of the second. He struck out the leadoff batter as he looked on. The next batter was caught swinging in just three pitches. A single and an error led to two ore runners on base. A walk loaded the bases. Then a fly out to Alex Wilson in center field stranded the Tigers on the bases.

Despite two outs to start the inning, UNA captain Jonathan Lane singled to third base to keep things alive. During designated hitter Nash Rippen's plate appearance, Lane stole second. However, Rippen went down swinging ending the inning.

The Tigers showed their ranking in the bottom of the third with a five run inning. The Tigers added two more homers to push the lead to 7-0. Senior right-handed pitcher John Allen Stogner subbed in on the mound to secure the final out.

Alex Wade put the Lions on the board in the top of the fifth. He homered over the left field wall after battling with the pitcher in a full count that saw eight total pitches.

The Tigers added more late runs to increase the lead, but UNA added a run in the seventh.

The Lions singled up the middle to start the inning and after a walk from pinch hitter Ryker Billingsley, runners were on first and second. A fly out moved Wilson to third and another pinch hit from Jackson Ferrigno earned an RBI as Wilson scored.
