Box Score

FLORENCE, Ala. (March 7, 2025) – The University of North Alabama women's tennis team extended its winning ways Friday afternoon en route to a 5-2 home victory over the Samford Bulldogs.

The Lions' hot streak continued against Bulldogs, rolling off their fifth-straight victory in the matchup from the UNA Tennis Courts. Returning from a two-dual road swing last time out, North Alabama overcame a deficit from doubles play to defeat the instate rivals and claim its third-straight win in Florence. The victory also marked the first win over Samford since the 1988 season.

All six competing Lions contributed to the big win, each taking home a win across singles and doubles play. UNA's Stanislava Bobrovnikova was the team leader with two wins across the two disciplines. She earned North Alabama's lone doubles win with partner Eeva Ristola, doubling her daily win total with her seventh singles win of the season.

Sophomore Emma Ansorge gained her third singles win of the campaign, while sophomore Ada Karabacak continues her winning streak with an eighth-straight singles victory. Sophomore Mathilde Delaney won for the fourth time in singles this season, and junior Senem Ocal picked up her fifth singles win to round out the UNA victories.

North Alabama's record now stands at 7-2, while Samford falls to 7-5.

Bobrovnikova and Ristola won the opening doubles match from the top flight, beating Samford's Margaret Jaraczewski and Hailey Robyn Troup, 6-4. The Bulldogs responded with two wins from court two and three, giving Samford the one-point advantage with 6-4 victories.

In singles, North Alabama answered back with a win from court six as Ocal defeated Samford's Libby Blair, 6-2, 6-0. Bobrovnikova earned her second win of the day from the top flight in singles, giving UNA the team lead with a 6-2, 6-1 triumph over Jaraczewski.

The Bulldogs tied the dual at 2-2 with a responding singles win from court three, but shortly after, UNA's Karabacak took home a win against Samford's Meredith Taylor, 6-4, 6-2. With the Lions holding a 3-2 lead, the winning dual point came from Ansorge in a three-set battle from the second flight.

The sophomore had a dropped first set to start but answered back with a hard-fought second set having to win by two. The third set went more in Ansorge's favor, taking the match with a 2-6, 7-5, 6-2 scoreline.

The final match was an even bigger battle with UNA's Delaney and Samford's Troup needing tiebreaks in the first two sets to determine a winner. Both would split the first two frames, each taking a 7-6 set, but Delaney held off the Bulldogs' fifth flight en route to taking the win, 6-7 (2-7), 7-6 (7-4), 6-4.
