JACKSONVILLE (April 23, 2025) – University of North Alabama beach volleyball student-athletes Ryenne Gepford and Selma Robinson earned the first batch of Atlantic Sun Conference beach volleyball postseason honors Wednesday afternoon, being selected to the Academic All-ASUN Team.
For Robinson, this marks her first ASUN academic honor. Gepford was selected to her second-consecutive team after receiving the honor for the 2024 season. The 10-player team was voted on by the league's sports information directors and academic representatives.
Gepford is studying for her MBA with a 4.0 GPA. Robinson is majoring in Finance with a 4.0 GPA.
The academic accolades continue a strong run for the Lions who have exhibited classroom success with performance on the court the last three seasons. North Alabama has had nine players make the Academic All-ASUN team since 2023, totaling 10 selections in the program's seven-year history.
Robinson was a force on the court, sporting a 20-8 record on the season while 9-1 in ASUN play from the top flight. She earned a win over No. 16 North Florida's top flight on March 28, defeating Presley Murray and Mackenzie Murphy, 21-18, 23-21, with partner Katy Floyd.
The junior also went on six-match win streaks twice on the season from Feb. 28 – March 8 and in conference play from March 28 – April 5. Robinson won her 50th career match at the Tiger Beach Bash on March 1, earning a 21-10, 21-8 triumph with Floyd over South Florida's Ola Stadnik and Sam Crosby.
Gepford went 14-13 record on the season with a 6-4 ASUN record from the second flight. She picked up a win against No. 6 Florida State's second flight to open the season, defeating Gella Andrew and Myriah Massey, 21-18, 21-18, on Feb. 21 with partner Pien Grooters. Later that same day, she achieved her 50th career win against Southern Miss in 22-20, 22-20 victory over Laurel Dennis and Sadie McAda.
The senior additionally went on six-match win streak from March 1-14 with wins over South Florida, UT Martin, New Orleans, EKU, UAB and Chattanooga.
Gepford and Robinson prep next for the 2025 ASUN Tournament in Huntsville, Ala., with No. 4 North Alabama facing No. 5 Jacksonville in the opening round on Thursday, April 24 at 10:30 a.m.
The rest of the postseason ASUN awards will be announced at 3:30 p.m. today.
