Aitor Reparaz 2024

Aitor Reparaz

Aitor Reparaz enters his fourth season with the University of North Alabama Men's Tennis team, with the 2025-26 season marking his third year at the helm.

During his tenure, Reparaz has seen the Men's Tennis program grow and excel with the 2024 and 2025 seasons marking program-record seasons.

The 2025 season proved to be a memorable one, with Reparaz leading the Lions towards the program's first regular season and tournament ASUN championship – the first postseason championship for UNA Men's Tennis since 1981. North Alabama's tournament win secured the program's first berth in the NCAA Men's Tennis Championship, where the Lions faced No. 22 Michigan State in the opening round.

UNA achieved a 20-4 record during the 2025 regular season, which finished as the most single-season wins in the Division I era and most since the 1988 season. The Lions also went unbeaten against conference competition, going 8-0 in the regular season and 2-0 during the ASUN Tournament.

Reparaz oversaw North Alabama earning its first Division I ITA ranking on Feb. 25, 2025 at No. 74, later adding ranks of No. 72, No. 69 and No. 68. North Alabama's season culminated in nine postseason honors and awards from the ASUN and College Sports Communicators – also a program record. Reparaz was named the program's first Atlantic Sun Conference Men's Tennis Coach of the Year on April 16, 2025.

His first season as the Men's Tennis Coach resulted in a 16-9 record in 2024, originally breaking UNA’s Division I program win record. North Alabama also celebrated its most decorated Division I season to date with three ASUN Player of the Week awards, four postseason honors and a postseason invitation to the 2024 UTR NIT Tournament in Bradenton, Fla.

Reparaz joined the tennis staff as an assistant coach on June 13, 2022, previously serving as a graduate assistant for the men's and women's tennis programs at NJIT. He assisted current UNA Women's Tennis Head Coach Olaya Garrido-Rivas with the women's program at NJIT in 2022, helping the Highlanders reach the Southland Conference Championship final.

A native of Barcelona, Spain, Reparaz brings high quality collegiate and international experience to the UNA program. Prior to working at NJIT, Reparaz spent four years as a coach at Spain's Rafa Nadal Academy (RNA). At RNA, Reparaz was a Lead Coach for ITF-level players, managing a co-ed group of 24 players and leading a staff of three assistant coaches.

Collegiately, Reparaz competed at Division II West Virginia Wesleyan College from 2011-15. A two-time team captain and two-time All-Mountain East Conference selection, Reparaz helped WVWC earn a NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 berth in 2013 and a pair of conference titles (WVIAC, 2011; MEC, 2014).

Reparaz also earned an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II Regional doubles title with WVWC teammate Joel Izquierdo in 2014 and ranked as high as seventh nationally in DII doubles during his collegiate career.

Academically, Reparaz also earned ITA Scholar-Athlete honors in 2014.
