Anna Milwee Hovater was hired in August of 2018. She spent three years as an academic support specialists before moving to assistant director of compliance and student-athlete welfare in June of 2021.

In her current role, Hovater oversees academic advising and counseling to student-athletes in various academic majors. The position is responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable NCAA, university, ASUN and Big South guidelines. She also works with student-athletes and various programs that will assist in the "life skills" area.Â

After working in collegiate athletics departments at Tulane and UAB, Hovater was hired at UNA in August of 2018. Prior to that, she spent the previous three years as director of operations for the UAB softball team, assisting with academic advising, organized daily activities, team travel, camps and equipment orders for the Blazers Division I program. She first came to UAB in August of 2014 as an assistant in the ticket office.
Prior to UAB, Hovater worked in the ticket office at Tulane. The Boaz native also assisted with facilities and event management for the Green Wave.
Milwee graduated UNA in 2014 with a degree in sport management and a minor in marketing. She served as a student worker in the ticket office for the Lions from 2009-2013. She married her husband, Thomas Hovater, in 2025.
