TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- After tying the game in the fifth inning, the University of North Alabama couldn't muster any additional office and came out on the short end of a 4-1 decision to Alabama at Sewell-Thomas Stadium.

With the loss, UNA is now 2-6 overall while Alabama improved to 7-2.

Alabama took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning as Johnny Hawk walked and later scored on a bases loaded walk to Keith Holcombe.

North Alabama tied the game and broke a 13-inning scoreless drought in the top of the fifth inning as Matt Homan singled and scored on a Colt Chrestman RBI-single. The Lions had a chance to take the lead but left the bases loaded.

Alabama regained the lead in the fifth as John Trousdale singled and Joe Breaux followed with a  double. The first run of the inning scored on a sacrifice fly and the second came in on a Moragn McCullough RBI-single.

Bama added a run in the bottom of the seventh loading the bases on Josh Stillman. Bryant Claunch came on in relief and walked Drew Williamson to force in a run and make it 4-1. Claunch then retired the next two batters to end the threat.

Garret Gillum (0-1), the third of seven UNA pitchers to throw in the game, took the loss. He allowed four hits and two runs in a third of an inning.

Chase Lee (1-0), the fifth of six pitchers to throw for Alabama, got the win.

UNA and Alabama each had seven hits in the game.

North Alabama plays at three game series at The Citadel in Charleston, S.C., beginning Friday at 5 p.m. Central.
