DAVIDSON, N.C. -- The University of North Alabama pitchers allowed eight runs in the first two innings and the Lions never recovered as UNA lost 13-1 in the final game of a three-game series at Davidson.
UNA, now 3-15 overall, fell behind 13-0 after five innings but managed to avoid a shutout with an unearned run in the eighth inning.
With the win, Davidson improved to 9-6.
The Wildcats scored five runs in the first inning and added three in the second, one in the third, three in the fourth and one in the fifth for a 13-0 lead. UNA got on the scoreboard in the top of the eighth inning when
Brett Baker was hit-by-pitch,
Reid Homan walked and Baker scored when
Reid Singewald reached on an error.
UNA starter
Kyle Moore (0-1) took the loss after allowing seven runs on six hits in an inning and a third. He walked three and struckout one.
Colin Chamblin followed Moore and surrendered five runs on six hits in an inning and two thirds.
Josh Stillman allowed the only other run in two innings of relief.
Davidson out-hit UNA 16 to three in the game and six of the Wildcats' hits were for extra bases.
North Alabama hosts Tennessee Tech Tuesday at Mike Lane Field at 5 p.m.
