OXFORD, Miss. -- North Alabama scored six runs on 12 hits but was out-matched by third ranked Ole Miss as the Rebels picked up a 20-6 win over the Lions at Swayze Field.
UNA scored runs in the third, fourth, sixth and seventh innings, but the Rebels scored at least one run in all six innings where they came to the plate, including a nine-run second inning.
With the loss, UNA is now 4-21 overall, while Ole Miss improved to 22-6.
Ole Miss broke on top with a run off UNA starter
Brycen Parrish in the first inning. The Rebels then made it 10-0 with a nine-run second inning.
UNA got on the board with two runs in its half of the third inning as
Drew Hudson and
Devne Daniel both singled. After moving up on a wild pitch, Hudson scored on a
Peyton Thomas sacrifice fly. Garret Smith, running for Daniel, later scored on an error.
Ole Miss made it 13-2 with three more runs in the third before UNA got two back in the top of the fourth.
Kevin Brenning walked and scored on
Drew Hudson's two-run homer.
The Rebels scored three more in the fourth and three in the fifth for a 19-4 advantage.
UNA got a run back in the sixth as Brenning doubled and scored on a
Levi Jensen RBI-single.
Ole Miss got its final run in the bottom of the sixth and UNA plated a run in the top of the seventh as
Gerardo Miranda singled and later scored on a wild pitch.
Parrish (0-2), took the loss, allowing 10 runs on nine hits over two innings on the mound. He walked three and struckout one.
North Alabama plays at Alabama State on Tuesday before hosting an ASUN Conference series at home over the weekend against Kennesaw State.
