BILL JONES ATHLETIC COMPLEX
The 2008 season marked the first time since the UNA women's soccer program began in 1997 that the Lions played at an on-campus facility. The initial ProGrass field at the UNA Athletic Complex was part of a $1.25 million renovation. The field was replaced prior to the spring of 2022. UNA is 75-35-7 on the turf and had a 16-match home winning streak from 2009-10.
UNA won the 2015 Gulf South Conference Championship on its home field in dramatic fashion, downing Lee 4-3 on penalty kicks. Stacey Webber (No. 9) provided the winning margin and goalkeeper Shelby Thornton (yellow) was tournament Most Outstanding Player.
This facility also plays host to UNA football practices and will be the future site of Bank Independent Stadium. This project will reimagine the facility for the UNA soccer, football and baseball programs.
BANK INDEPENDENT STADIUM (Coming Soon)
On June 9, 2023, the UNA Board of Trustees unanimously approved an on-campus, multi-purpose stadium
project, to be named Bank Independent Stadium. Six months later on December 15, 2023,
UNA announced its partnership with HPM as the project manager and Davis Architechs as the architect
of record. The project is in the design phase with targeted completion during the 2026-27 academic year.
