FLORENCE, Ala. – West Georgia scored a goal in the second minute of the first half and made it hold up as the Wolves downed North Alabama 1-0 in a Gulf South Conference women's soccer match at the UNA Soccer Complex.
With the loss, UNA is now 6-7 overall and 5-4 in GSC play. West Georgia improves to 10-4-1 overall and 6-3-1 in the GSC.
Katie Mitchell scored the only goal of the match on a blast from 40 yards out that hit the cross bar and angled down behind UNA goalkeeper
Kate Webster for the goal. It was her fifth goal of the season.
UNA dominated play the rest of the half, out-shooting the Wolves 14 to three, but the Lions could not put a ball in the net. The Lions out-shot the Wolves 22 to six in the match.
North Alabama hosts Valdosta State Sunday (Oct. 23) at 1 p.m. for Senior Day, where the Lions will recognize senior players
