UNA WOMEN TOP TREVECCA 72-43 TO STAY PERFECT

FLORENCE – The University of North Alabama women's basketball team turned 29 Trevecca turnovers into 36 points in a 72-43 home victory Saturday evening at Flowers Hall. With the win, UNA improves to 5-0 on the season, matching its win total from a year ago.
 
KeKe Gunter scored 19 points while Ivy Wallen scored 13 points and added five steals on the night. UNA shot 48.1 percent from the floor, getting many shots from uncontested layups after steals.
 
A three-point basket and two free throws by Gunter gave the Lions an early 5-0 lead and the home team never trailed. UNA led 27-18 late in the second quarter before ending the half on an 8-2 run to take a 35-20 lead into the break.
 
The lead remained double digits over the final two quarters. With a 43-24 lead, the Lions held Trevecca scoreless over the final 7:18 of the third quarter. A 13-0 run during that span put the game out of reach. A three-pointer by Brynn Holden at the buzzer put UNA ahead 56-24 and the end of the period.
 
The lead reached 37 in the final two minutes of play before the Trojans closed the game on a 9-1 run.
 
Emma Wallen added eight points for the Lions while Michaela DeKilder pulled down seven rebounds. Sarah Raby led Trevecca (1-4) with 12 points.
 
UNA will host Auburn-Montgomery on Tuesday. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. at Flowers Hall.
