SOCCER LIONS STAY PERFECT WITH 4-0 WIN AT TTU

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- University of North Alabama senior Kylie Huey scored two goals and assisted on another as the UNA women's soccer team remained unbeaten with a 4-0 road win over Tennessee Tech.

North Alabama, in its first season in Division I, has raced out to a 4-0 start with wins over Alabama State, Alabama A&M, Jackson State and now Tennessee Tech, in the Lions' first road match of the season.

Huey got the Lions on the board early when she scored her first goal at the 16:01 mark off a pass from Tay Cavett. It was Huey's third goal of the season and 37th of her collegiate career.

The two Lions then switched roles in the 28th minute as Cavett scored off an assist from Huey at the 27:58 mark.

Early in the second half, Huey extended UNA's lead to 3-0 when she took a pass from Shelby Wall and scored her fourth goal of the season.

Wall pushed UNA's advantage to four goals at 71:39 of the second half when she scored her fourth goal of the year off an assist from Margarida Sousa.

UNA goalkeeper Shelby Thornton recorded a shutout in goal with four saves.

Tennessee Tech entered the match with a 2-1 record and sporting wins over Georgia State and East Tennessee State. The Golden Eagles were picked to finish third in the Ohio Valley Conference pre-season poll.

Tennessee Tech had only allowed three goals combined in its first three matches of the season.

North Alabama has out-scored its 2018 opponents 18-3 this season. Nine different UNA players have scored goals, led by Huey and Wall with four each.

The Lions play at Jacksonville State on Friday, August 31 at 7 p.m. UNA will then travel to Vanderbilt for a September 2 match at 1 p.m.
