FLORENCE, Ala. -- Margarida Sousa and Kylie Huey combined on a pair of goals to lead the University of North Alabama women's soccer team to a 2-0 win over Troy at the Bill Jones Athletic Complex.

Sousa scored the first goal in the 29th minute off an assist from Juey to stake the Lions to a 1-0 lead. The two then reversed roles as Sousa provided an assist to Huey's insurance goal in the 88th minute.

With the win, North Alabama snapped a four-match losing skid and improves to 6-4 overall in its first season in Division I. Troy falls to 2-7-1 overall.

After winning its first five matches of the season, UNA had scored just one goal in its last four matches combined but broke out of that scoring slump against the Trojans. Huey floated a pass across the middle that Sousa headed into the goal at the 28:01 mark to give the Lions a 1-0 lead. It was Sousa's third goal of the season and 13th of her career.

Clinging to a 1-0 lead, UNA finally extended its lead at the 87:53 mark when Sousa provided an outlet pass to Huey and she put the ball in the back of the net for a 2-0 lead. It was Huey's fifth goal of the year and 39th of her career.

UNA out-shot Troy 14 to five in the match and UNA's goalkeeper Shelby Thornton had three saves in 90 minutes in-goal.

North Alabama begins ASUN Conference play next Sunday when the Lions host Kennesaw State at 4 p.m.
