UNA WOMEN GET 71-55 ASUN WIN OVER STETSON

FLORENCE – Emma Wallen hit seven three-point baskets and scored 20 of her game-high 25 points in the second half as the University of North Alabama women's basketball team defeated Stetson 71-55 Saturday afternoon at Flowers Hall. The third straight ASUN Conference win gives UNA a 13-2 overall record and 4-1 showing in league action.
 
Wallen had just five points at the break on 1-of-5 shooting as the Lions took a 32-24 lead into the locker room. After the Lions were unable to extend their lead in the third quarter, the junior from Anderson got hot from long range. She connected on six straight treys over a 4:52 span. Her final three-pointer of the night gave North Alabama a 71-53 lead with 2:17 remaining.
 
Stetson was able to keep pace in the paint. The Hatters, however, were 0-for-6 from three-point range in the fourth quarter.
 
UNA fell behind 5-0 early in the contest and trailed 12-11 at the end of the opening quarter. Savannah Stults gave the Lions their first lead of the game with a three-pointer early in the second period. The shot from the right corner started a 13-3 run and UNA never trailed again.
 
Both teams scored 13 points in the third quarter before the Lions pulled away in the final period.
 
Brittany Panetti added 14 points and eight rebounds for North Alabama. Ivy Wallen also had 13 points and seven assists. Stetson (7-11 overall, 2-2 ASUN) was led by Day'neshia Banks' 13 points.
 
UNA will host Kennesaw State on Tuesday. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. at Flowers Hall.
