FLORENCE – UAB overcame a 3-0 deficit to rally for a 4-3 road victory at North Alabama Sunday at the UNA Varsity Tennis Courts. The loss leaves UNA with a 3-7 record while the Blazers improve to 5-9 on the year.

North Alabama held the early lead after getting the doubles point and taking two early points in singles play via default and retirement. UAB was able to close the gap with straight-sets victories at No. 1 and No. 3 singles. A three-set win at No. 4 tied the match before the Blazers completed the comeback with a 2-6, 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles.

Nina Linke and Megan Humphreys helped secure the doubles point for the Lions at the No. 2 position. The overall point was up for grabs after UNA won at No. 3 by default and UAB posted a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles. Linke and Humphreys, however, gave UNA the early lead with a 6-4 win of their own.

UNA took a 2-0 lead after the Blazers' short-handed roster could not produce a player at No. 6 singles. Elise Sickle then gave the Lions a 3-0 lead at the No. 5 spot. She led 3-2 in the opening set when her opponent retired.

UAB got its first point at No. 1 singles when Claudia Arroyo retired in the second set. The Blazers won the remaining three singles matches on the court to complete the comeback.

UNA will play at Western Kentucky on Saturday. Match time is set for 2 p.m. on the WKU campus in Bowling Green, Ky.
