FLORENCE, Ala. -- After 89 scoreless minutes, Chattanooga's Hollie Massey scored on a free kick from 25 yards out with 18 seconds left to give the Mocs a 1-0 women's soccer win over North Alabama at the Bill Jones Athletic Complex.
Chattanooga had out-shot the Lions 15-8 prior to the kick but UNA goalkeepers
Savannah Stewart and
Jordyn Spreck had combined for six saves to keep the Mocs off the scoreboard. UNA only had two shots on goal in the contest by
Charlotte Kellett and
Shelby Wall. .
Stewart started in goal for UNA but left the match in the 27th minute after suffering an injury. She recorded three saves and Speck recorded three more in her 63 minutes of play.
UNA falls to 1-2 with the loss, while Chattanooga improved to 2-0-1.
North Alabama hosts Jacksonville State Sunday at 1 p.m.
