UNA VOLLEYBALL FALLS TO TENNESSEE TECH, CHATTANOOGA

CLEVELAND, Tenn., - The University of North Alabama volleyball team came up short twice on the final day of the Chattanooga Classic Saturday falling to Tennessee Tech and host Chattanooga by identical 3-0 scores. The losses leave UNA with a 2-7 record on the season heading into the team's home opener next Tuesday against Tennessee State.
 
Against Tennessee Tech, the Lions had a negative hitting percentage for the first time this season in the 25-11, 25-17, 25-9 defeat. UNA had just 15 kills on 81 swings with 20 attack errors for a -.062 clip. The Golden Eagles also came through with eight blocks.
 
Breylee Linder was the only UNA player to reach double figures, recording 10 assists.
 
In the nightcap, the North Alabama offense continued to struggle. The Mocs cruised in the first two sets before holding on in the third in the 25-15, 25-13, 25-22 victory.
 
Anna Katherine Griggs and Alyssa Dutton had six kills each to lead the Lions. Linder also had 24 assists. Defensively, Mackenzie Sullivan led the way with 14 digs.
 
UNA's first home game against Tennessee State on Tuesday is set for 7 p.m. at Flowers Hall.
