FLORENCE, Ala. --
Shelby Wall scored her 11th goal of the season but it wasn't enough as the University of North Alabama came out on the short end of 2-1 score to NJIT in ASUN Conference women's soccer action.
The loss drops UNA to 4-7 overall and 0-2 in league play. NJIT is now 5-3-2 and 2-0.
The Highlanders got the only goal of the first half at 15:02 from Jessica Aseng on a play that began as a corner kick and Aseng played the rebound of a header from the crossbar back into the goal.
NJIT pushed it to 2-0 at the 68:00 mark on an unassited goal by Lauren Chamberlain.
Wall scored her ASUN-leading 11th goal in the 78th minute on a blast from 20 yards out after fighting to secure the ball. Wall has now scored in UNA's last eight consecutive matches.
UNA out-shot NJIT 17 to seven but Highlander goalkeeper Molly Saylor recorded six saves.
The Lions have a week off before playing at Liberty on October 6.
