ALABAMA BLANKS UNA MEN’S TENNIS 7-0

TUSCALOOSA – Playing its third consecutive Southeastern Conference opponent to open the 2020 season, the University of North Alabama men's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision at Alabama on Monday at the Roberta Alison Indoor Facility. With the loss, the Lions fall to 0-5 on the season.
 
Alabama took the doubles point with 6-2 victories at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. UNA's Cian Maguire and Andreas Hansen trailed 5-3 at the top spot when play was called.
 
The Crimson Tide clinched the match with straight-sets wins in singles play. After getting a default win at No. 6, Alabama picked up singles victories at the No. 2 and No. 4 to secure the team win. The remaining matches played out, finishing with a 6-3, 7-5 win by Patrick Kaukovalta over UNA's Yannick Pfleiderer at No. 3 singles.
 
UNA will play at Middle Tennessee on Feb. 2. Match time is set for 3 p.m. at the Adams Tennis Complex on the MTSU campus in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
