UNA FINISHES SHOALS BEACH BASH WITH 3-1 RECORD

FLORENCE – A pair of victories on the final day of the Shoals Beach Bash gave the University of North Alabama Beach Volleyball team a 3-1 record at the event. The Lions defeated Hendrix College and Lincoln Memorial by identical 5-0 scores to even their overall mark at 3-3 on the season.

Against Hendrix, UNA raced out to early leads on all five courts and never looked back. The No. 5 and No. 4 positions won in straight sets after allowing a total of nine total points. The Lions clinched the match with a win at the top spot. Maya Dickson and Taylor Seney recorded the 21-13, 21-5 victory.

North Alabama completed the sweep with wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions.

The final match against Lincoln Memorial featured a similar script. The matches proved to be closer, but the overall score was the same.

Libby Jump and Joice Maldonado picked up a 21-9, 21-14 win at No. 4 to give the Lions the early lead. After a three-set victory at No. 5, UNA clinched the match at No. 3. Ava Carnley and Mackenzie Martin recorded a 21-6, 21-19 victory.

A three-set win at No. 1 and a straight-sets win at No. 2 completed the sweep for the Lions.

UNA will travel to Conway, Ark., to play at the UCA Beach Bear Classic. The Lions will play four matches March 6-7 on the campus of the University of Central Arkansas.
