LYNCHBURG, Va., – A 3-0 loss at Liberty wrapped up the 2021 spring season for the University of North Alabama volleyball team on Saturday. The 25-17, 25-22, 27-25 loss ends the Lions' season with a 1-13 record, including a 1-11 mark in ASUN Conference play.

UNA had its best team hitting percentage in the eight-point opening-set loss. The Flames, however, also had their best showing of the night, hitting .267 with 14 kills.

In the second set, the Lions led 15-10 before the home team scored eight straight points to take control. UNA tied the score at 19-19 and 20-20 before the Flames closed the set on a 5-2 spurt.

North Alabama remained in striking distance from start to finish in the third set. The Lions trailed 24-22 before fighting off match point with a kill by Breylee Linder and a block by Anna Katherine Griggs and Freya Collier.

UNA took a 25-24 lead on a Liberty attack before the Flames scored three straight points to close the match.

Kamryn Parsonage finished with 10 kills to lead UNA. The freshman from Cypress, Calif., finished the season with a team-high 2.71 kills-per set.

Linder added 16 assists while Kennedey Johnson had 15 assists on the night. Defensively, Katie Gerig posted a match-high 12 digs. Griggs and Maggie Sullivan also had seven blocks each.
