FLORENCE – After winning the doubles point, the University of North Alabama women's tennis team could not hold the early lead on Saturday, dropping a 4-1 home decision to Austin Peay. The loss gives UNA a 3-8 record on the season.

ASPU picked up singles-play victories at No.1, No. 2, No. 5 and No. 3 to clinch the match. The remaining singles matches were not finished.

The Lions were able to grab the early lead with identical 6-3 victories at the top two doubles positions. Kalais Going and Sydney Flesch finished first at No. 2, followed by Megan Humphreys and Payton Andrews at the top spot. No. 3 doubles was not finished.

In singles play, the Lady Governors took the lead with straight-sets win at the top two spots. Humphreys (No. 3) and Ida Hasselbalch (No. 5) each dropped their opening set 7-6 in a tiebreaker. ASPU was able to use the momentum to finish the match.

UNA will play Mississippi Valley State in Montgomery on March 14.
