WOMEN’S TENNIS FALLS IN ASUN QUARTERFINALS

NASHVILLE, Tenn., - Lipscomb won the doubles point before taking three straight matches in singles play to record a 4-0 win over the University of North Alabama women's tennis team Saturday in the quarter-final round of the ASUN Conference Tournament. With the loss, UNA ends its third season at the Division I level with a 6-14 record.
 
Doubles victories at the No. 3 and No. 1 positions gave the host Bisons the early lead. No. 2 doubles was tied at 5-5 when play was stopped.
 
Straight-sets win at No. 6, No. 2 and No. 3 singles clinched the match for Lipscomb, which improved to 10-8 on the season. The clinching point came down to a tiebreaker in the second set. The Bisons' Sasha Dobranos held of Megan Humphreys 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) at the No. 3 spot.
 
At No. 1 singles, Payton Andrews dropped a 7-6 decision in the opening set, including an 8-6 loss in the tiebreaker. The score was tied at 4-4 in the second set when play was stopped.
 
Kalais Going had just completed her second set at No. 5, rallying for a 6-4 victory to tie up her match. At No. 4 singles, Nina Linke was in the third set after splitting the first two.
