UNA SOCCER DROPS SEASON FINALE TO JACKSONVILLE

FLORENCE – Jacksonville netted a goal in the 80th minute and held on for the 1-0 win over the University of North Alabama soccer team Saturday afternoon at the Bill Jones Soccer Complex. With the loss, UNA closes the regular season with a 5-8-5 overall record and 2-6-2 mark in ASUN Conference play.
 
UNA held a12-9 advantage in shots, including four on goal. The Lions, however, could never find the back of the net as Jacksonville keeper Murphy Sheaff recorded four saves for the visiting Dolphins.
 
The two teams battled to a scoreless tie at the half. Jacksonville was able to grab the lead with just under 15 minutes remaining when Alisha Mainwaring found Selma Fohrer, who scored her third goal of the season.
 
Kate Wiseman and Kira Schuster led the Lions with four shots each. UNA keeper Payton Yates recorded five saves on the day.
