LIBERTY HOLDS ON FOR 3-1 WIN OVER UNA VOLLEYBALL

FLORENCE – Liberty maintained first place in the ASUN Conference with a 28-26, 31-29, 18-25, 25-18 win over the University of North Alabama volleyball team Friday evening at Flowers Hall. With the loss, UNA falls below .500 for the first time this season, moving to 12-13 overall and 2-11 in league play.
 
The Lions reached set point in each of the first two sets before the visitors rallied. After trailing 24-22 in the opener, three straight points gave UNA a set point of its own. The two teams traded scores with the Lions taking their last lead on a kill by Taylor Floyd. The Flames, however, put together three straight points to get the win.
 
In the second set, North Alabama let a 17-12 lead slip away. The Lions reached set point first with a 24-22 lead. Liberty rallied and the two teams combined for eight set points before the Flames notched the 31-29 victory.
 
UNA had its best showing in the third set, hitting .350 as a team before holding off a late surge by the Flames.
 
Liberty (18-7 overall, 11-2 ASUN) opened the fourth set on a 7-1 run and maintained the lead the rest of the way.
 
For the match, Floyd had 15 kills to lead the Lions. Katy Floyd added 14 kills while Elif Ozsoy had 35 assists. Defensively, Ella Ratzloff recorded 11 digs.
 
UNA will host Queens on Sunday. Match time is set for 1 p.m. at Flowers Hall.
