VANDERBILT WOMEN’S TENNIS TOPS LIONS 7-0

NASHVILLE, Tenn., - After winning the doubles point, the Vanderbilt women's tennis team swept through singles play to record a 7-0 victory over North Alabama on Friday. The loss leaves UNA with an 0-6 record on the season while Vanderbilt improves to 5-1 on the year.
 
Vanderbilt took the early lead in winning all three doubles matches by identical 6-1 scores.
 
In singles play, the Commodores won all six singles matches to secure the sweep. Wins at No. 5, No. 4 and No. 1 clinched the overall match. Vanderbilt stretched the lead to 6-0 with victories before No. 96 Marcella Cruz held off UNA's Sydney Flesch 6-4, 6-4 at the No. 3 spot.
 
UNA will play next at Mississippi State with a double-header on Feb. 12. Match times are set for Noon and 3 p.m. at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre in Starkville, Miss.
