FLORENCE – Stetson scored twice in the top of the second inning and held off North Alabama for a 3-1 victory Sunday afternoon in ASUN Conference softball action. The loss leaves UNA with a 22-7 overall record and a 1-2 start to conference play.

UNA struggled to hit Stetson's Lauren Hobbs for the second straight game. Hobbs allowed a single run while scattering six hits on the day.

In the top of the second inning, Stetson loaded the bases with one out before getting an RBI-single and a sacrifice fly to grab the 2-0 lead. The Hatters added a single run in the top of the fourth to extend the lead.

UNA got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth inning. Harley Stokes led off the frame with a single. She reached third before scoring on a bloop single by Brooke Burback.

Back-to-back singles in the bottom of the seventh put the tying run on base before Hobbs recorded a popup to end the game.

UNA finished with six hits. Burback and Emma Broadfoot each went 2-for-3 at the plate.

Sophie Golliver (6-1) suffered her first pitching loss of the season. She started and worked the first two innings, allowing two runs off three hits.

UNA will travel to Liberty next weekend for a three-game ASUN series. The two teams will play a double-header on Saturday, followed by a single game on Sunday.
