MEN’S TENNIS FALLS AT LIPSCOMB

NASHVILLE, Tenn., - The University of North Alabama men's tennis team won the first two matches in singles play but could not build on that lead Sunday in a 5-2 loss at Lipscomb. With the loss UNA falls to 1-11 overall and 0-2 in ASUN Conference play. Lipscomb improves to 4-7 on the season and 1-0 in the ASUN.
 
Lipscomb jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead in doubles play. Lipscomb won 6-1 at No. 2 doubles before clinching the point with a 6-3 win at the top spot. No. 3 doubles went unfinished with UNA's Fernando Herrera and Nazar Fedoryshyn were leading 4-2.
 
In singles play, the Lions won the first two matches to take a 2-1 lead. At the No. 5 spot, Nazar Fedoryshyn won 6-3, 6-1 while Guilherme Diniz posted a 6-4, 6-4 victory at the No. 4 position.
 
Lipscomb, however, closed the match with four straight singles wins. The final three matches at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 6 each went to a third set, including the clinching point at No. 2.
 
UNA will play its next match at Alabama A&M on March 28. Match time is set for 1 p.m. in Huntsville.
