FLORENCE – Trailing 3-1 at home against Bellarmine, the University of North Alabama men's tennis team posted three straight wins in singles play to rally for a 4-3 victory Sunday afternoon in ASUN Conference play. With the win, UNA improves to 3-13 overall and 1-3 in league action.

UNA faced the deficit after Bellarmine won the doubles point and claimed two of the first three singles matches. Chris Zhang started the comeback for the Lions with a 7-6, 6-3 victory at No. 3 singles.

The final two matches of the day each went to a third set. Nazar Fedoryshyn won 6-1, 4-6, 6-1 at the No. 5 spot to tie the overall score at 3-3 and set the stage for the final match at the top spot.

After dropping the opening set, Fernando Herrera rallied for a 2-6, 7-5, 6-4 victory to clinch the win for the Lions.

Guilherme Diniz and Jamie Bixby opened doubles play with a 6-2 victory at the No. 3 position for UNA. Bellarmine, however, won the next two matches by 6-4 scores to take the doubles point and the overall 1-0 lead.

In singles play, UNA trailed 2-0 and 3-1 before rallying. After the Knights extended their lead with a win at No. 4, Bixby recorded the first point for the Lions with a 6-0, 6-2 victory at the No. 6 position.

Another win by Bellarmine at No. 2 singles made the score 3-1 and set the stage for the North Alabama comeback.

UNA will continue conference play against North Florida on Friday, April 8. Match time is set for noon at The UNF Tennis Complex.
