NORTH FLORIDA TAKES DOWN UNA WOMEN’S TENNIS

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., - After winning the doubles point, North Florida swept through singles play to record a 7-0 victory over the University of North Alabama women's tennis team on Friday.  With the loss, the Lions fall to 3-16 overall and 1-5 in ASUN play. North Florida improves to 11-8 and 5-1 in league matches.
 
The Ospreys took the early lead in doubles play with 6-0 and 6-1 victories at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots respectively. The No. 3 match went unfinished with North Florida leading 5-3.
 
In singles play, North Florida won both matches at the bottom of the lineup before clinching the match at the No. 4 position with a 6-1, 6-2 victory. UNF then closed out the match with wins in the three final singles matches.
 
UNA will continue conference play with its next match at Stetson on Sunday. Match time is set for 9 a.m. at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center on the Stetson campus in DeLand, Fla.
