LIONS COMPLETE SOFTBALL SWEEP OF WESTERN MICHIGAN

FLORENCE, Ala. -- Felicity Frame went 4-for-4, Brooke Burback and Georgia Land hit back-to-back home runs and Mariyn Waterman got her first pitching win as a Lion as North Alabama completed a three-game sweep of Western Michigan 8-3 at the Hilda B. Anderson Softball Complex.

UNA, now 13-1 overall and winners of eight straight, downed the Broncos 3-1 and 8-0 on Saturday.

Western Michigan struck early in the final game with two runs in the first inning. UNA tied it a 2-2 in the bottom of the first on triples by Frame and Hailey Jones and an RBI-single by Land.

The Broncos went back on top 3-2 in the second inning to knock UNA starter Sophie Golliver out of the game.

The lead was short lived, however as UNA went on top to stay with three runs in the third inning. Frame singled and scored on Burback's home run, and Land followed with her second homer of the series to make it 5-3.

The Lions got three more runs in the fourth with four hits. Frame drove in a run with her third hit of the game and Jones added a two-run single.

Waterman pitched six complete innings, allowing no runs on three hits. She struckout three batters.

North Alabama shortstop Haven Kirby turned in a stellar defensive performance in the win, assisting on seven consecutive outs at one point.

Land went 5-for-8 in the series with four runs scored and seven runs batted in, while Frame was 8-of-11 against the Broncos with six runs scored and two RBI.
