FLORENCE, Ala. --
Haven Kirby had three hits, including a home run, and
Elena Escobar pitched a complete game as the University of North Alabama softball team closed out its ASUN Conference series against Eastern Kentucky with a 4-3 win at the Hilda B. Anderson Softball Complex.
With the win, the Lions took the series 2-1 over the Colonels and improved to 21-9 on the season. The Lions are 3-6 in ASUN play.
UNA went on top with single runs in the first and second innings. In the first,
Sidney Bevis singled and scored on an RBI-double by Jones.
In the second,
Brooke Burback had a leadoff double and scored on an RBI-single from
Haven Kirby.
EKU tied the game with two runs in the top of the third but the Lions regained the lead with a run in the bottom of the frame.
Gracie Benton walked, Burback singled and Kirby drove in the run with her second RBI-single of the day.
The final run of the game came when Kirby homered to leadoff the fifth inning.
Escobar (7-2) got her second win of the series. She allowed three runs on six hits over seven innings. She walked two and struckout six.
UNA begins a three-game road series at Kennesaw State on April 7.
