Lions earn second consecutive shutout with draw at Western Kentucky

Adriana Wright earns second straight clean sheet

Bowling Green, Ky. (September 1, 2023) – The North Alabama soccer team tied with Western Kentucky on Friday night in Bowling Green, Ky. to earn their second consecutive shutout, 0-0.

North Alabama defeated Arkansas-Pine Bluff 2-0 on Sunday before heading into Friday's match with the Hilltoppers.

North Alabama goalkeeper Adriana Wright earned her second consecutive clean sheet by stopping six shots. Wright has now stopped 17 shots on the season while only allowing three goals.

North Alabama now holds a streak of over 236 in-game minutes without allowing a goal to an opponent. The last goal the Lions allowed came in the 34th minute of the August 24 match against Chattanooga.

Despite the match not seeing a goal, there were 20 total shots between the two teams, including six on target for both squads.

The Lions have allowed just three goals in five games so far this season, which is the second fewest in the Atlantic Sun behind just FGCU, who have played one less game than UNA.

North Alabama is now 1-2-2 on the season, while the Hilltoppers move to 1-1-3

Up next, North Alabama returns home to Florence, Ala. to take on the Alcorn State Braves on Sunday, Sept. 3 at the Bill Jones Athletic Complex at noon.
