Box Score

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (March 24, 2024) – The University of North Alabama women's tennis team capped its two-dual road swing with a tight 4-3 defeat at North Florida on Sunday afternoon.

The Lions struck first in the Atlantic Sun Conference matchup, taking the early lead through two wins in doubles action. The Ospreys opened singles with two-straight wins before UNA equalized through a win from senior Kalais Going.

Freshman Emma Ansorge's second-flight win and a North Florida win from flight six set up the deciding match in flight four. Freshman Ada Karabacak and UNF's Anslee Long battled to a tiebreak in the third set, but Long finished the match victorious to secure the win for North Florida.

Junior Anoek Pruijmboom and Karabacak continue to excel as a pair, winning their sixth-straight match with 6-2 win over Jasmin Makela and Sofia Snitko. The opening win was answered by the Ospreys before UNA won doubles with a 6-4 win from Going and sophomore Stanislava Bobrovnikova – their fourth as a pair.

North Florida took the first two singles matches before Going's second win of the day, defeating Kendall Nash, 6-4, 7-5, for her sixth win of the season. Ansorge overcame a dropped second set en route to her seventh singles win with a 6-0, 2-6, 7-5 win over Sofia Snitko. The Ospreys saw the dual out with wins from two of the final three flights.

Karabacak and freshman Marta Serra Carles took their opponents to three sets in the final matches, but the Ospreys were able to get the wins. Serra Carles fought back from losing the first set in a 6-2, 2-6, 6-0 win by North Florida's Jasmin Makela. Karabacak did the same and played to a tiebreak in her match, eventually falling to the Osprey's Anslee Long, 6-4, 2-6, 7-5.
