Box Score FLORENCE, Ala. (March 4, 2024) – The University of North Alabama women's tennis team won its fifth consecutive dual Monday afternoon, sweeping Mississippi Valley State at the UNA Tennis Complex, 6-0.
North Alabama has now won five straight matches and six of the last seven. The Lions move to 7-2 overall, while Mississippi Valley State is still in search of their first win of the year.
In the first of two duals this week, UNA started strong with a sweep over the Devilettes. Two quick 6-0 wins in doubles set up four 6-0, 6-0 results in singles to cap the dominant display.
UNA's top flight pair of Senior Kalais Going and freshman Marta Serra Carles earned the first win of the day with a victory over MVSU's Toni Carter and Alexus Johnson. Junior Anoek Pruijmboom and freshman Ada Karabacak followed with a second flight win over Naterra Young and Emani Burnett.
Going, Serra Carles and Pruijmboom all replicated their performances in singles, with sophomore Valeria San Miguel also picking up a win for North Alabama.
The Lions turn their attention to Friday, March 8, where they host the Jacksonville State Gamecocks at the UNA Tennis Complex in Florence. The dual is scheduled for 1 p.m.
