FLORENCE, Ala. (March 9, 2024) – The University of North Alabama women's tennis team continued its winning ways at the UNA Tennis Complex, shutting out in-state rival Jacksonville State by a 4-0 final in Florence.

UNA's historic start to the season continued Saturday, as the Lions have now won six-straight duals and seven of their last eight. UNA also set its Division I era record for single season spring wins with eight, passing last season's mark of seven.

UNA's dominance in doubles set the tone from the first serve, taking the top two flights before wins in singles flights two, three and four cemented the shutout victory.

Freshman Emma Ansorge, along with seniors Kalais Going and Marta Torres, led the Lions with two wins each, while sophomore Stanislava Bobrovnikova's doubles win with Going added on to her season win tally.

Torres and Ansorge started the day with their win at No. 2 doubles, opening with a 6-3 victory over Anna Syrova and Ella Tuomela. Going/Bobrovnikova's 6-3 win from the top flight sent the dual into singles as UNA took the one-point advantage.

The first singles victory went to Torres, who defeated JSU's Dariana Prato in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4, from the fourth flight. Ansorge gained her second victory of the day with a 6-3, 6-2 flight two victory over Polina Ramenskaja.

The match was swiftly decided on court three, as Going's 2-0 day was capsulated with a 6-4, 6-3 triumph over Syrova. Singles flights one, five and six involving UNA's Bobrovnikova, junior Anoek Pruijmboom and freshman Marta Serra Carles all went unfinished. UNA led at least one set in all of those matches.

UNA has three duals from March 13-17, facing in-state Alabama A&M before their first two Atlantic Sun Conference matches against Stetson and FGCU.
