FLORENCE, Ala. (February 24, 2025) – The University of North Alabama women's tennis team is set for an afternoon showdown Tuesday, taking on the Jacksonville State Gamecocks at 12 p.m. in Florence.
The Lions return to action for their third-straight home dual, hosting the in-state rival Gamecocks after picking up a win last time out versus Jackson State. Originally scheduled for Feb. 11, UNA faces Jacksonville State after inclement weather forced the dual to be rescheduled two weeks later.
The first of three duals on the week, North Alabama returns to its normal confines of the UNA Tennis Courts before traveling to both Missouri State and Southeast Missouri State in weekend duals.

LAST TIME OUT: UNA Women's Tennis defeated Jackson State, 4-1, to earn its first home win of the season. North Alabama returned to action after a two-week hiatus, taking the victory from the Tigers with strong play in singles. Jackson State posed an early challenge with the doubles point, but UNA answered back with four straight-set singles victories to secure the win.
SCOUTING THE LIONS: North Alabama is winning singles matches at a 57.1 percent rate, but its specialty lies in doubles play with a 69.2 percent win rate. UNA increased its singles win percentage after the Jackson State dual, with the Lions taking all four courts. Junior Stanislava Bobrovnikova and sophomore Ada Karabacak both have four singles wins to lead the team, adding to their tally with wins against the Tigers. In doubles, sophomore Mathilde Delaney (5), junior Eeva Ristola (4) and sophomore Emma Ansorge (4) lead the Lions in season wins.
ADA AT IT AGAIN: UNA Women's Tennis earned its first accolade of the season with Ada Karabacak being named the Atlantic Sun Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week on Feb. 5. She went 3-0 singles and 2-0 in doubles, helping North Alabama go 2-1 in duals against Troy, Alabama State and UAB. Karabacak's ASUN award tally now grows to three, with the sophomore winning two weekly honors by the conference last season.
SCOUTING JACKSONVILLE STATE: The Gamecocks enter the matchup at 4-2 on the season, coming off a 6-1 win over Florida A&M in the last outing. Jacksonville State wins matches at a combined 68.9 percent rate, with the Gamecocks sporting a 20-9 record across singles and 11-5 in doubles. Four players have seven combined wins in singles and doubles matches (Irene Artigas, Lea Erenda, Aneka Patel and Polina Ramenskaja). Jacksonville State's head coach is Michael Helms.
SERIES HISTORY: North Alabama and Jacksonville State meet for the 23rd time, with Jacksonville State leading the series 17-5. North Alabama won for the first time in three years against the Gamecocks last time out, sweeping Jacksonville State, 4-0, on March 9, 2024.
