FLORENCE, Ala. (February 25, 2025) – The University of North Alabama women's tennis team earned its second-straight win Tuesday afternoon with a 4-1 victory over the Jacksonville State Gamecocks at the UNA Tennis Courts.

Playing in their second consecutive dual at home, the Lions continued their winning ways with a three-point win over the in-state rival Gamecocks. North Alabama started strong by taking the doubles point, claiming the top two flights. UNA proceeded to take three of four singles flights to secure the win.

Five Lions finished with wins on the day, with juniors Stanislava Bobrovnikova and Eeva Ristola securing a singles and doubles victory. The duo of sophomores Emma Ansorge and Mathilde Delaney added a doubles win, while sophomore Ada Karabacak won from singles in straight sets.

UNA's record improves to 4-2 on the year, while Jacksonville State falls to 4-3 in the early season.

North Alabama's Ansorge and Delaney struck first in doubles play, defeating the Gamecocks' Irene Artigas and Aneka Patel, 6-3, from court two. Bobrovnikova and Ristola added a 6-4 win against Jacksonville State's Anna Syrova and Zuzana Pavelekova from the top flight.

Ansorge and Delaney remain unbeaten as a pair this season at 5-0 while Bobrovnikova and Ristola improved to 2-0 as a doubles duo.

Jacksonville State claimed the first win in singles from court six, but North Alabama responded with three ensuing victories on courts one, three and four.

Bobrovnikova cruised to a 6-3, 6-2 win over Polina Ramenskaja, adding a team-high fifth singles win to her tally from the top flight. Karabacak added the third UNA team point from court four, defeating Jacksonville State's Artigas, 6-2, 6-4, for her fifth singles win.

The final point came from Ristola on court three, with the junior defeating Syrova in straight sets. The opening set needed a tiebreak, but Ristola claimed the frame 7-6 (8-6) before a 6-4 second set won the dual for the Lions.
