FLORENCE, Ala. (March 12, 2025) – The University of North Alabama women's tennis team cruised to a 4-0 win Wednesday morning against the visiting Alabama A&M Bulldogs in Florence.
UNA's battle against the Bulldogs saw the Lions thrive in home action from the UNA Tennis Courts. The Lions earned their eighth win of the season, also staying hot with their sixth-straight victory. North Alabama improves to 8-2 with the result, with Alabama A&M now sporting a 3-7 record.
Senior Stanislava Bobrovnikova led UNA with a singles and doubles win, with five additional Lions securing wins on the day. Junior Eeva Ristola paired with Bobrovnikova for a doubles win, and second-flight pair Lena Karlovcan and Ada Karabacak nabbed a win to clinch the doubles point for North Alabama. Junior Senem Ocal and sophomore Emma Ansorge rounded out the action with respective singles wins.
Bobrovnikova and Ristola got the dual started with a dominant 6-1 triumph from court one over Alabama A&M's Alicia Owegi and Yana Dhamija. Karlovcan and Karabacak clinched their first doubles win together with a 6-1 victory from court two over the Bulldogs' Sofia Sotelo Raya and Gabrielle Henderson. Ansorge and sophomore Mathilde Delaney held a 5-2 advantage from court three but went unfinished due to UNA clinching the doubles point.
Bobrovnikova continued to roll heading into singles play, claiming a 6-1, 6-1 win from court one over Alabama A&M's Ntokozo Zungu. Ocal claimed the second UNA win with a 6-3, 6-1 result from court five over Raya. The clinching point was won on court three, with Ansorge defeating Owegi, 7-6 (7-4), 6-0, to cap the action from Florence.
