Men’s Tennis soars in 6-1 victory over Lipscomb

Lions bash Bisons as UNA remains perfect at home

FLORENCE, Ala. (March 19, 2025) – The University of North Alabama men's tennis team earned its first home win in Atlantic Sun Conference play Wednesday afternoon, rolling to a 6-1 triumph over the Lipscomb Bisons in Florence.

In the home test against the Bisons, North Alabama excelled with the dominant effort from the UNA Tennis Courts. The Lions took the doubles point against the Bisons, extending the momentum into singles play with five of the six courts won by UNA. North Alabama gained its 12th win of the campaign to improve to 12-3, while the Lions stay perfect in conference play with a 3-0 record. The UNA Tennis Courts continue to prove a tough venue for opposing teams, as UNA also stays perfect in home action with a 6-0 record.


All six Lions secured wins against the Bisons, with senior Nazar Fedoryshyn, junior Lachlan Brain and sophomore Birtan Duran leading the way with a singles and doubles win. Brain picked up his sixth singles win and fifth doubles victory, while Duran won for the ninth time in singles and eighth in doubles. Fedoryshyn claimed his eighth doubles win in a court-two victory with Duran, along with his fourth singles win.


Freshman Samu Dominguez won his doubles match with Brain, with the two victorious for the fourth time this season. Sophomores Alberto Altur and Izan Orgiles rounded out the UNA wins with respective singles match victories.


Dominguez and Brain got the day started from the third doubles court, opening with a 6-2 win over Giovanni Ciocca and Oliver Thoeny. Duran and Fedoryshyn followed with a court-two victory, seizing the doubles point for UNA in a hard-fought, 7-5 triumph over Oskar Szymczak and Antoine Testaud.


Orgiles got the winning started in singles, taking the second court with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Ciocca. Brain earned the Lions second-straight singles win, rolling from the top flight in a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Szymczak. Fedoryshyn's second win of the day clinched the team dual, with the senior defeating Testaud, 6-1, 6-3, from the fifth flight.


Altur kept UNA's winning ways going from flight three, beating Juan Lombisano in a 6-2, 6-2 result. The final win came from Duran, with the sophomore victorious over Facundo Perlov from flight four, 6-3, 6-1.
