University of North Alabama softball head coach Ashley Cozart announced a familiar face to her coaching staff, as former catcher Georgia Land will assist the coaching staff for the 2024 season.

Land — one of three seniors on the team for the 2023 season — finished the campaign with an impressive .341 batting average and a team-high nine homers, .587 slugging percentage and 1.034 OPS.

"Adding Georgia to our staff makes us immediately better," said Cozart, who enters her 11th season in 2024. "The knowledge and passion she has for the game is so exciting to see. Add that with her genuine personality and humbleness and she will be one of the best young coaches around. Georgia was such a great player and one the best catchers I've ever had. I am excited to see what she brings to this team, and we are so happy to have her join us."

After spending her freshman season at UT Martin in 2019, Land transferred to North Alabama and has remained in Florence since — finishing her fourth year in 2023. She was a second team All-ASUN selection in 2022 and 2023.

"I am so thankful for Coach Cozart giving me this opportunity to come back and help coach this year," said Land. "I have loved all four years here as a player and am so excited to be here for my fifth. I cannot wait to pour into this team and see what they can do this year."

By way of nearby Lawrenceburg, Tenn., Land has a built-in coaching pedigree as she played for her father, Brian Land, at Lawrence County High School. She posted a .449 batting average in 2017 to aid her team en route to district and region championships, totaling nine homers, 45 RBI and six stolen bases. She was also named Miss Softball Middle Tennessee AAA Player of the Year in high school.

Land started 158 games for the Lions over her four seasons.
