VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS AUM FOR SIXTH STRAIGHT WIN

FLORENCE – The University of North Alabama volleyball team hit .381 and recorded 12 service aces in a 3-0 sweep over Auburn-Montgomery Friday to open play at the 2017 UNA Classic. The 25-12, 25-10, 25-9 victory at Flowers Hall gives the Lions an 8-2 start to the season.
 
Jessica Austin led UNA for the second straight match, getting 12 kills and a .579 hitting percentage. The senior from Farmington Hills, Mich., added a dig and a block and hit over .500 for the second consecutive match.
 
Lexie Bradley hit .368 and added 10 kills for the Lions. Jayden Davila-McClary added 24 assists in the first two sets before Emma Ellis came in to set the final game and notch 11 assists.
 
Defensively, Ashtyn Kapovich led the way with 12 digs. She also accounted for six service aces.
 
UNA will be back in action at Flowers Hall with two matches on Saturday. The Lions will take on Tuskegee at 3 p.m. before closing the event with a 7 p.m. showdown against West Alabama.
