With the win, the Wolves (6-3 overall) remained unbeaten in GSC play, getting three straight road victories to start the season. UNA falls to 6-3 overall and 1-2 in league action. The Lions trailed just 31-26 at the break and were within two in the opening minutes of the second half. Branch, however, connected on a basket and free throw to cap a three-point play and start a 10-0 run for the visitors. The lead remained double digits the rest of the way. After a basket by Dimario Jackson cut the deficit to 59-47 with 8:33 remaining, UWG used another run to pull away. UNA went 4:10 without a field goal while the Wolves began a 16-2 run to break the game open. Shannon Fowler scored nine points during the stretch for UWG. Branch capped the spurt with a dunk in transition to make the score 74-49 with 4:23 remaining. Jackson led the Lions with 22 points. The senior went 11-of-13 from the free throw line. Sharwyn McGee added a double-double performance with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Austin Timms also had 11 points on the day. West Georgia got the double-digit road win despite having two technical fouls and committing a season-high 27 turnovers. The Wolves shot 57.7 percent from the floor in the second half. UNA will not play again until Dec. 31, beginning a GSC road swing at Valdosta State.
