FLORENCE, Ala. --Freshman
Anna Bove' scored in the 35th minute and the University of North Alabama recorded its fifth shutout of the season as the Lions posted a 1-0 ASUN Conference women's soccer win over Jacksonville at the Bill Jones Athletic Complex.
With the win, UNA improved to 9-6 overall and 3-2 in the ASUN. Jacksonville is now 1-12-1 overall and 1-5 in league play. With three conference matches left to play, the Lions are in fifth place in the league standings and could clinch a spot in the ASUN Tournament with a win Sunday over North Florida.
Bove's goal came at 34:11 of the first half on an assist from
Shelby Wall. It was Bove's fourth goal of the season and Wall's ninth assist.
The Lions out-shot Jacksonville 14-9 but the Dolphins had several chances in the closing minutes. UNA goalkeeper
Shelby Thornton finished the night with three saves.
North Alabama hosts North Florida Sunday at 1 p.m.
The Lions will honor the four senior members of the 2018 team in a pre-game ceremony at 12:45. UNA's Senior Class of 2018 includes
