Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

UNA MEN FALL 63-60 AT STETSON

DELAND, Fla., – Stetson grabbed the lead with 1:31 remaining and held off the University of North Alabama men's basketball team down the stretch for a 63-60 home win on Saturday. With the loss, UNA falls to 9-20 overall and 6-8 in ASUN Conference play. With two regular season games remaining, the Lions are in sixth place in the ASUN standings.

On Saturday, the game featured nine ties and 14 lead changes. The two teams traded three-point baskets in the final 3:49 of playing time. Seconds after a trey by Kendarius Smith gave the Lions a 59-56 lead, the Hatters answered with a three-pointer of their own on the ensuing possession to tie the score with 3:35 remaining.

Neither team scored on the next five trips down the floor. Stetson's Kenny Aninye hit a jumper at the 1:31 mark and UNA had two turnovers and a missed shot on its next three possessions.

Emanuel Littles hit 1-of-2 free throws to cut the deficit to 61-60 with 20 seconds remaining and the Lions had a chance to win the game after Stetson failed to score on the next trip down the floor. A three-pointer by Smith, however, was off the mark in the closing seconds. The Hatters grabbed the defensive rebound and hit a pair of foul shots with two seconds left. Another desperation three-pointer near mid-court was off the mark at the buzzer.

Tavon King scored a career-high 21 points to lead North Alabama. Smith finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds while Kendall Stafford added 12 points for the Lions. Littles also had 10 rebounds on the day.

Leo Goodman led Stetson (7-22 overall, 3-11 ASUN) with 16 points.

UNA will host Jacksonville on Tuesday. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. at Flowers Hall.
